Two lawyers earn Criminal Attorneys of Michigan's Right to Counsel award

The Criminal Defense Attorneys of Michigan (CDAM) selected Lisa Kirsch Satawa of Birmingham and James R. Samuels of Big Rapids as recipients of its Right to Counsel Award. This honor recognizes the significant contributions of individuals in legal representation or other extraordinary service.

Said CDAM President Elizabeth A. LaCossea: “More than 15 years ago, Jim and Lisa saw a void in training for young defense attorneys. They put their heads and experience together as well as countless hours of their personal time to create and implement a training program called ‘A is for Attorney.’ This program has impacted hundreds of attorneys across the state.

“This dedication and leadership is why they earned a State Bar of Michigan award as well as the respect and accolades of CDAM. We are honored to express our appreciation and esteem for these amazing attorneys.”

CDAM’s Annual Dinner and Awards Banquet is set for Friday, March 13 at the Auburn Hills Marriott, Centerpoint Parkway. The cocktail reception begins at 6:15 with dinner at 7 o’clock. For those interested in attending, visit www.CDAMonline.org. Tickets are $75/person.
