Varnum welcomes new associates
Varnum recently welcomed six new associates, all of whom previously served as summer associates. Four are in the Grand Rapids office:
Justin A. Allen is a graduate of Vanderbilt University Law School where he served as managing editor of Vanderbilt Journal of Entertainment & Technology Law. He attended Michigan State University James Madison College for his undergraduate degree.
Tuo (Paul) Wang is a graduate of New York University School of Law where he served as article selection editor for NYU Law Review of Social Change. He received his undergraduate degree from Hope College.
William J. Whalen is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame Law School where he was the articles editor for the Journal of International and Comparative Law. He received his undergraduate degree from Loyola University Chicago, graduating magna cum laude.
Yezi (Amy) Yan is a graduate of Wayne State University Law School, where she served as executive editor of The Journal of Business Law. She received her undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, from Mount Holyoake College.
Varnum also welcomed Jailah D. Emerson to the Detroit office; and Jordan C. Giles to the Ann Arbor office.
Sexton appointed treasurer to LMA Board of Directors
The Legal Marketing Association (LMA), which represents legal marketing and business development professionals in 48 U.S. states, and 24 countries, announced Jan. 25 that Roy Sexton has been appointed treasurer of the 2021 LMA Board of Directors, effective Jan. 1.
As director of marketing, Sexton helps lead Clark Hill’s marketing, branding and communications efforts. Sexton has nearly 20 years of experience in marketing, communications, business development and strategic planning. He has been heavily involved in the LMA as a regional and international leader and serves on numerous nonprofit boards and committees.
Sexton earned his bachelor’s degree from Wabash College, and holds master’s degrees from The Ohio State University and the University of Michigan. He is also a published author with two books “Reel Roy Reviews.”
Sexton will be chair and board liaison of LMA’s Audit Committee and Finance Committee.
