Weldy appointed to Affinity Mentoring Board of directors

Warner Norcross + Judd LLP attorney Malaina J. Weldy has been appointed to the board of directors of Affinity Mentoring. 

Grand Rapids-based Affinity Mentoring connects children with adults through weekly school-based mentoring sessions to children in the Grand Rapids and Wyoming school districts. Weldy will serve as secretary of the board and work to cultivate relationships between children and trusted adults to support leadership, social-emotional, math and literacy skills. 

Weldy is an associate who practices in Warner’s Grand Rapids office and assists businesses on a variety of matters, including corporate governance, securities law compliance and mergers and acquisitions.

She received her law degree summa cum laude from the University of Notre Dame Law School, where she was a managing senior editor of the Notre Dame Law Review.

Court welcomes new administrator

Clerk of the Court Tanya Todd has been selected as Court Administrator for the 61st District Court-Grand Rapids. Her new position starts Aug. 23.

Todd, who earned her JD from MSU Law, was a casework supervisor for the Kent County Friend of the Court; and spent a couple years in private practice as an attorney.

Todd has completed the Institute for Court Management (ICM) courses leading to certification as a nationally recognized Certified Court Manager (CCM). In 2019, she was selected for the “Rising Star Award” by the Michigan Court Administrators Association (MCAA).

She was also recently elected for a two year term to the MCAA Board of Directors. She has actively participated in numerous State Court Administrative Office committees and other court initiatives.

Todd succeeds Gary Secor who is leaving the court after a10-year tenure.
