Money raised to help Japanese

The Japan Center for Michigan Universities Alumni Association along with its current president, Jaffe, Raitt, Heuer, & Weiss attorney Ben McCracken (left), recently coordinated a fund raiser in Royal Oak to help those in need in Japan. “All of our alumni have at one time lived in Japan and it was very heartbreaking for all of us to see the suffering going on after the great Tohoku earthquake and tsunami that followed that as well as the radiation danger now,” said McCracken.  “Japan having been our second home for all of us, we felt compelled to have an event to try to raise money for the people there.” Helping McCracken with the 50/50 raffle at the event at the BlackFinn Restaurant were (left to right) Chad Cole and Elizabeth Money. Funds raised will be turned over to the Japanese consulate general in Detroit and forwarded to the Japanese Red Cross.  Anyone who would like to contribute may send tax-deductible checks made out to the Michigan-Shiga Sister State Board, noting that the check is for Japan Disaster Relief. Checks may be sent to: Michigan-Shiga Sister State Board, P.O. Box 4715, East Lansing, 48823-9998.
