Law Day at federal court

PHOTO #1: The U.S. District Court, the Eastern District of Michigan Chapter of the Federal Bar Association, and the Wolverine Bar Association jointly hosted a Law Day open house on Wednesday, May 1, at the Theodore Levin U.S. Courthouse in Detroit.  Among the agencies participating the open house were the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; Coast Guard; Border Patrol; Consumer Bankruptcy Association; Courthouse Museum; Drug Enforcement Agency; FBI; Federal Defender Office; Immigration and Customs Enforcement; IRS; U.S. Attorney’s Office; U.S. District Court; U.S. Probation Department; U.S. Pretrial Services Agency; U.S. Marshals Service; and the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department.

PHOTO #2: Happy to welcome open house guests were event co-chairs (left to right) U.S. District Court Magistrate Judge David Grand and Dona Tracey, attorney with the Dept. of Veterans Affairs.  “We have many federal agencies here as an opportunity for the community to get familiar with all the different work that the court does and what the different agencies do in the administration of justice,” Grand said.
