The State Bar of Michigan Business Law Section hosted a Small Business Forum on Tuesday, March 2, at the Columbia Center in Troy. Taking part in the forum were (l-r) speakers Arcardi Ramirez, technology business consultant in alternative energy for MI-SBTDC; Cynthia Grubbs of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation; and Douglas Toering with Grassi & Toering PLC. “The Small Business Forum is an opportunity for attorneys, business advisors – such as CPAs and financial planners – as well as business owners to meet for the purpose of networking and to become aware of new issues affecting small business in Michigan,” Toering noted. “In addition to the subjects we’ve discussed today—opportunities for women and minority small business and opportunities for small businesses in alternative energy—we’ve had other seminars dealing with alternative financing for businesses, resources that are available through the SBA (Small Business Administration) and the State of Michigan, as well as exit strategies for owners of small business.” Photo by John Meiu.
