SBM forum explores export opportunities

The State Bar of Michigan’s Business Law Section conducted a Small Business Forum recently at the Columbia Center in Troy. The program addressed the topic of “Developing Foreign Markets: New Opportunities for Small Businesses in Exporting.”  Presenting at the forum were (left to right) Maurice Snyder, president of Spec Development Co.; John O’Gara, regional manager, Export Solutions Group, Office of International Trade, U.S. Small Business Administration; Richard Corson, director, Pontiac U.S. Expert Assistance Center, U.S. Commercial Service; and forum chair Doug Toering of Grassi & Toering PLC.  Michigan small businesses could take advantage of the recently announced National Export Initiative.  “With about 6.5 billion potential customers outside the U.S., it’s time that small businesses in Michigan look at opportunities in the export market,” noted Toering in a release prior to the forum.  The Small Business Forum hosts several educational events throughout the year which include time to network with other business professionals.  For information on upcoming events, visit www.michbar.org/business/smallbusiness.cfm.
