Wyoming: Foul play not suspected in death of Michigan girl
WYOMING, Mich. (AP) — Authorities say foul play isn’t suspected in the death of a 2-year-old girl found in a vehicle parked in a driveway in southwestern Michigan.
Family members identified the girl as Lesli Selena Cuevas-Villagomez.
An autopsy was conducted. Wyoming police declined to release details other than saying foul play was not suspected. Capt. Brad Schutter said the investigation continued.
Monica Villagomez, the girl’s aunt, said the girl’s mother arrived home Friday afternoon with another child, who had been napping in the car. The newspaper said Lesli was in the house, but somehow climbed into the car.
Oklahoma City: Deceased Michigan man is a suspect in Okla. death
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Prosecutors say a long-dead Michigan ex-convict has been identified as a second murder suspect in an Oklahoma City “cold case” that went unsolved for more than two decades.
Prosecutors say Steven A. Boerner was the second man who abducted Kathy Sue Engle of Yukon outside Shepherd Mall in Oklahoma City on April 23, 1986, and forced her into her car. Police say they know two men were involved because other mall customers witnessed the kidnapping.
Engle’s nude and bound body was found April 30, 1986, in a meadow in far western Oklahoma.
A fingerprint from Boerner was found in the steering wheel of Engle’s abandoned car. Boerner died in 1992 in a traffic accident in Pennsylvania. The 33-year-old Boerner became a truck driver after his release from a Michigan prison. His former mother-in-law said he served time for robbery or a similar crime.
In 2008, DNA evidence was used to identify 44-year-old Kyle Richard Eckardt as a suspect in Engle’s death. He was charged last August with first-degree murder and is awaiting trial in Oklahoma County District Court.
