Governor appoints Dykema attorney to Michigan Military Appeals Tribunal
Kyle R. Dufrane, a member resident in Dykema Gossett PLLC's Detroit office, has been appointed to Michigan's Military Appeals Tribunal by Gov. Rick Snyder. Dufrane was appointed along with fellow Michigan attorneys Bob Gardella and Bradley Smith. The tribunal hears cases involving Michigan military personnel who have been court-martialed and seek an appeal.

The Military Appeals Tribunal was created by Act 523 of the Public Acts of 1980, being section M.C.L. 32.1067. It consists of five members appointed by the governor, by and with the advice and consent of the senate, for a term of four years. The tribunal has appellate jurisdiction, upon petition of an accused, to hear and review the record in all decisions of a court-martial after the review provided in the Michigan code of military justice. It sits as a panel of three members with the concurrence of two members necessary for a decision. The tribunal also may promulgate administrative rules.
Dufrane's law practice focuses on consumer finance litigation, product liability defense, toxic tort, complex commercial litigation, insurance litigation, and class actions. He is experienced in litigating consumer financial services disputes for national financial institutions and during his more than 10 years of practice, he has represented some of the nation's largest financial institutions in these matters. Dufrane also maintains an active role in several professional and legal organizations. In addition to the Military Appeals Tribunal, he was recently appointed to serve as a Hearing Panelist for Michigan's Attorney Discipline Board.
