For the third judicial election cycle, the Oakland County Bar Association has partnered with the League of Women Voters Oakland Area and the Detroit Free Press to host judicial candidate fora in all races where there are contested seats.
The second forum was conducted Wednesday, June 30, at the Clawson City Council Chambers. This forum featured candidates for the Oakland County 52-4 District Court including (left to right) Kirsten Nielson Hartig, Judge Michael A. Martone (incumbent) and David A. Pietroski.
“We’re hosting these community based fora so the community can come and ask questions,” noted OCBA Executive Director Lisa Stadig Elliot. “We have the candidates complete judicial questionnaires and we post them on our websites—all three of the (hosting) organizations.”
The fora are open to the public and are video recorded so that they may be aired on cable channels in the communities where the races take place. As soon as the videos are available, they are being loaded on the OCBA website, www.ocba.org, as streaming video. “Hopefully this is one stop shopping for folks who want to learn more about the judicial races,” Elliot added.
