An investiture ceremony was be held Aug. 20 at the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center for newly appointed Judge William C. McConico of the 36th District Court (left). Presiding over the ceremony was Supreme Court Justice Michael F. Cavanagh. Before he was appointed by Gov. Jennifer Granholm, McConico was city attorney for Highland Park. Previously, he was an attorney with the Allen Brothers law firm in Detroit and a state representative for Detroit. He is currently a board member of the Detroit-Wayne County Port Authority and was vice chairman of government relations for the Super Bowl XL host committee. McConico earned his law degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Law in Cleveland and his bachelor's degree from Morehouse College in Atlanta.
