Goldsmith takes oath of office

Newly confirmed U.S. District Court Judge Mark A. Goldsmith, Eastern District of Michigan, was sworn in recently during a private ceremony by Chief Judge Gerald E. Rosen. In June 2009, U.S. Senators Debbie Stabenow and Carl Levin recommended Goldsmith, an Oakland County Circuit Court judge since 2004, to President Barack Obama for nomination to the federal court to fill the vacancy of U.S. District Judge John Corbett O’Meara, who decided to go to senior status and a reduced caseload. In June, the U.S. Senate confirmed Goldsmith, and he received his commission the following day. Goldsmith’s wife Judy (right) was with him as he took his oath of office.
