Pinsky attorneys deemed best lawyers
The publication Best Lawyers of America has announced that all four partners in the law firm of Pinsky, Smith, Fayette & Kennedy, LLP are included in the 2011 edition of Best Lawyers of America. The four lawyers are H. Rhett Pinsky, Edward (Ned) Smith, Michael L. Fayette and Katherine Smith Kennedy.
Lawyers are selected for inclusion in Best Lawyers solely on the basis of a nationally conducted peer review survey in which more than 25,000 leading lawyers vote on the legal abilities and professional achievements of other lawyers in their specialties. All four lawyers specialize in labor and employment law.
Miller Johnson Health Care Reform team
Miller Johnson has formally developed a Health Care Reform Team to be a professional resource and provide guidance to clients regarding health care reform legislation. Because of the complexity and ambiguity of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and Health Care and Edu-
cation Affordability Recon-
ciliation Act of 2010, the changes are expected to span eight years in implementation.
Mary V. Bauman, chair of the Health Care Reform Team, said, “We have been sending out Client Alerts, speaking to professional organizations, and hosting a webinar in addition to advising clients. However, we knew our clients deserved to have a more comprehensive and cohesive group serving them since this will have a tremendous impact on them financially and strategically.”
The attorneys on the Health Care Reform Team come from many of the firm’s well-established practice groups including employee benefits, employment health care, health care providers, provider reimbursement, elder law, and fraud and embezzlement. The team is charged with reviewing and analyzing the legislation, monitoring developments, informing clients of new regulations, and providing counsel to ensure compliance.
Among the more important changes to health insurance coverage and employer-sponsored health plans the team is monitoring are insurance market reforms, revenue raisers, “pay or play” systems, and administrative requirements. Other areas of the legislation they will examine include elder abuse, long-term care, employment and labor issues, fraud and abuse, Medicare, and tax matters.
Miller Johnson’s web site, www.millerjohnson.com, will feature the Health Care Reform Team documentation and activity on a page of the Practice Areas section.
