Varnum attorney elected to board of Michigan Women in Finance
Varnum attorney Mary Kay Shaver was elected to serve on the board of directors of Michigan Women in Finance for a three-year term. The board of directors is made up of 16 women.
Michigan Women in Finance brings together an array of finance professionals including bankers, legal counsel, trust officers and analysts to gain insight into the marketplace. Each year, the organization hosts a conference providing updates on the latest finance matters as well providing an opportunity for dialogue and networking.
Shaver's legal practice focuses on municipal finance transactions, corporate finance transactions and creditors' rights issues. She joined Varnum in 1999 shortly after graduating cum laude from Wayne State University Law School. Shaver is also on the regional board of Inforum of West Michigan, and volunteers with Habitat for Humanity.
22 Miller Johnson attorneys in Super Lawyers
Twenty-two attorneys from Miller Johnson have been selected for inclusion in Michigan Super Lawyers 2010 released recently.
For the fourth straight year, Jon R. Muth has been the only West Michigan attorney selected as a member of the state’s Top 10 list. Muth was featured in the article “The Ride of a Lifetime” which included being on the cover of the Michigan Super Lawyers 2010 publication.
Four Miller Johnson attorneys are in the Michigan Top 100: Jeffrey S. Ammon, David J. Gass, Jon G. March and Jon R. Muth. Carol J. Karr has been on the Top 50 Women list each year since Michigan Super Lawyers inception. In addition, Maxwell N. Barnes was selected as a Michigan Rising Star.
