The Association of Black Judges of Michigan’s Annual Worship Service will be conducted on Sunday, Feb. 13, at Little Rock Baptist Church in Detroit located at 9000 Woodward.

Trial starts for former mil. translator accused of being Iraqi agent
DETROIT (AP) — A trial has started in Detroit for a former U.S. military translator who is charged with feeding information years earlier to the old regime of Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein.
George Hamama, a 60-year-old Iraqi native, is charged with conspiracy and making false statements. The government says documents seized after the fall of Hussein revealed that he was an agent and had informed Iraq about the activities of former Iraqis living in the United States in the 1990s.
Hamama lives in El Cajon, Calif., but used to live near Detroit. He was a U.S. military translator in Iraq when he was arrested in 2008.
Prosecutors gave their opening statement Tuesday. In response Wednesday, defense attorney Haytham Faraj says Hamama believed he was giving benign information to Iraqi diplomats, not secret agents.
Jury deliberations start in SEC-Delphi civil case over finances
DETROIT (AP) — Jury deliberations have begun in Detroit in a civil trial involving two former executives at auto-parts maker Delphi who are accused of misstating the company’s finances in 2000.
The case was filed by the Securities and Exchange Commission against former chief executive J.T. Battenberg and ex-accountant Paul Free. One of the main allegations is that the men concealed a $237 million transaction involving warranty costs with General Motors Corp.
Battenberg and Free say they aren’t liable. The SEC alleges that Delphi manipulated its earnings from 2000 to 2004 by using several illegal schemes to boost its earnings.
Jurors heard the last closing argument Wednesday in a trial that began in October. Delphi was spun off by GM in 1999 and emerged from bankruptcy in 2009.
