The Program for International Legal Studies at Wayne State University Law School presented “The Independence of Kosovo and Self-Determination in International Law” as part of its Winter/Spring 2011 Speaker Series on Wednesday, Jan. 19, at the Wayne Law Spencer M. Partrich Auditorium.
Speaking at the program was Brad Roth (pictured), an associate professor at Wayne Law and in WSU’s Department of Political Science.
Roth specializes in international law, comparative public law, and political and legal theory. “The focus of this talk will be on the emergence of Kosovo as an independent state recognized now by over 70 nations and subject to an advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice on its unilateral declaration of independence,” noted Roth.
His latest article, “Secessions, Coups, and the International Rule of Law: Assessing the Decline of the Effective Control Doctrine,” will appear in the May 2011 issue of the Melbourne Journal of International Law.
