‘Liens’ evening forum presented by MAJ
The Michigan Association for Justice (MAJ) will host an evening forum on “Liens” on Thursday, March 10, beginning with registration at 5:30 p.m. at the Crown Plaza located at 27000 Sheraton Drive in Novi.
Sessions will run from 6 to 9 p.m.

Co-moderators include Jules Olsman, MAJ past president, and MAJ Executive Board members Robert June, Donna MacKenzie,   and Troy Haney

Primer on real estate tax appeals presented at NALS After Hours

NALS of Detroit will present its CLE After Hours on “Real Estate Tax Appeals: Primer” with guest speaker Jeffrey M. Stefan II of Barris, Sott, Denn, & Driker PLLC on Monday, March 14, at 6 p.m. at the offices of Barris, Sott, Denn, & Driker in Detroit.

A short chapter business meeting will follow the speaker’s presentation.

The cost to attend is $13 for NALS members and $15 for non-NALS members.

SBM to present ‘Tips and Tools for a Successful Practice’
The State Bar of Michigan will present “Tips and Tools for a Successful Practice” from 8:45 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday, March 1, at the State Bar’s Michael Franck Building in downtown Lansing. The registration fee is $100 for lawyers who have been in practice for less than five years, and $125 for those who have been practicing law for five years or more. The registration fee includes a continental breakfast and buffet lunch. Payment and the registration form, which can be downloaded from the SBM website at www.michbar.org/tipstools.cfm, must be received by Tuesday, Feb. 25. No “walk-in” registrations will be accepted. Judge Takaaki Shintaku to discuss foreclosure procedures in Japan
Judge Takaaki Shintaku, an assistant judge with the Sendai District Court of Japan, will compare the foreclosure procedures of the United States and Japan in a lecture titled “The compulsory execution system of Japan” at 12:15 p.m. on Tuesday, March 1, in the third-floor faculty lounge of the Wayne State University Law School.
