Wayne State University Law School Dean Robert M. Ackerman (far left), the Wayne Law Board of Visitors and the Wayne Law Alumni Association recently presented the 14th annual Treasure of Detroit Gala at the Detroit Institute of Arts. This year’s honorees were James K. Robinson, (honored posthumously), David M. Hempstead (second from right) of Bodman PLC and A. Alfred Taubman (not pictured). Lake Orion attorney Marietta Robinson (second from left) and U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Damon J. Keith (far right) attended as representatives of Robinson and Taubman respectively. “We are pleased to honor three public-spirited individuals, each with a strong connection to Wayne Law,” said Ackerman. Since its inception in 1998, the Treasure of Detroit Gala has been Wayne Law’s premiere event for honoring those who have made a lasting contribution to the practice of law, as well as to the growth and success of the school. This year’s gala featured an alumni reunion reception for all classes paying special tribute to this year’s featured class: the class of 1970. The event featured a silent auction, awards program and dinner.
