The Michigan Supreme Court Historical Society recently hosted its Annual Membership Luncheon on Thursday, April 28, at the Detroit Athletic Club. Michigan Supreme Court Chief Justice Robert P. Young Jr. (left) provided introductory remarks at the event and Western Michigan University Political History Professor Mark S. Hurwitz (center) presented a historical vignette on the state’s judicial election system. Welcoming the two to the luncheon was Society President Wallace D. Riley of Wallace D. Riley & Associates PLLC. A non-profit organization started in 1988 by then Chief Justice Dorothy Comstock Riley, the Society preserves documents, records and memorabilia relating to the Michigan Supreme Court. It also produces publications, special events, and other projects to achieve its goals in education and restoration.
