Todd A. Van Thomme, a partner with Price, Heneveld, Cooper, DeWitt & Litton, LLP, has published an article called “A Year of Evolution” in the World Intellectual Property Review Digest 2010. The publication is a summary of trends and perspectives from numerous countries around the world.
Van Thomme’s practice “covers the entire intellectual property lifecycle, from procuring patents, trademarks and other intellectual property to licensing intellectual property to resolving intellectual property and Internet-related disputes.” He wrote the article as the president of The Association of Patent Law Firms, which has recently been renamed The Association of Intellectual Property Firms (AIPF). Van Thomme has been the president of the organization for about two and a half years.
AIPF is “an international association of independent specialty law firms that devote a majority of their practice to patent law, trademark law and copyright law.” Firms, and not individual attorneys, currently compose the AIPF membership.
“While everyone has had their share of difficult times over the past few years, now is a time of great opportunity for growth and evolution,” Van Thomme states in the article. The AIPF intends to expand its membership to include corporate counsel.
The AIPF’s publication, The IP Law Bugle, was expanded under the leadership of Scott Ryan, also formerly of Price Heneveld.
The web site for the World Intellectual Property Review, which publishes widely on IP issues, is www.worldipreview.com/
