Third Circuit Juvenile Division to host Family Reunification Day
The Wayne County Juvenile Court will host the Second Annual Family Reunification Day on Thursday, June 23 from 12:30 to 2 p.m. in the 13th floor auditorium of the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center at 2 Woodward Avenue.
The annual event is being held in conjunction with National Reunification Day that customarily happens between Mother’s Day and Father’s Day every year.
The celebration will recognize the hard work, dedication and commitment of the parents, professionals and caregivers who make family reunification possible after a court intervention and a finding of child abuse or neglect.
Approximately 15 recently reunified families will be honored. The families’ foster care specialists, caregivers and other community partners will also be recognized.
The event will be held in a festive atmosphere with colorful balloons, happy parents and children, a gift presentation and will feature the appearance and keynote words from International Blues artist Janiva Magness, a Detroit born talent who was named B.B. King Entertainer of the Year 2009.
Magness is also the current spokesperson for National Foster Care Month and Ambassador of Foster Care Alumni for Foster Care Alumni of America.
Refreshments will follow the ceremony during a special reception.
