Acomb presents at international forum on risk management
Frederick A. Acomb, a principal and chair of Miller Canfield’s International Dispute Resolution Section in Detroit, recently gave a presentation on law firm risk management at the International Bar Association Annual Litigation Forum in Krakow, Poland. In addition, he gave a presentation on U.S. Discovery in Aid of International Arbitration with Ryan H. Haywood at the program, “Nuts & Bolts of International Commercial Arbitration,” sponsored by the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law and International Law Section and Alternative Dispute Resolution Section of the State Bar of Michigan.
Acomb handles complex commercial litigation and international arbitration matters for clients from all over the world.
He received his J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of Law and his B.M. from Northwestern University. He is a member of the International Bar Association; the American Bar Association, International Law and Practice Section; and the State Bar of Michigan, International Section.
He lives in Birmingham, Michigan.
McInerney appointed chair of U.S. Courts Committee of SBM
Clark Hill Attorney Mark W. McInerney has been appointed chair of the United States Courts Committee of the State Bar of Michigan for a one year term for the 2011-2012 bar year. McInerney is a member of Clark Hill’s Detroit office, where he practices in the firm’s Education and Municipal Law, Labor and Employment Law and Litigation Practice Groups.
The United States Courts Committee is a Standing Committee of the State Bar. Its purpose is to “make recommendations concerning the administration, organization and operation of the United States Courts for the purpose of securing the effective administration of justice.”
In recent years, the committee’s work has included providing comments about proposed federal rule changes and articles advising the bar of rules changes and developments of interest to federal court practitioners.
The committee consists of two federal judges from the Eastern District of Michigan, one from the Western District of Michigan, the clerks of both of those courts, and 12 attorneys from throughout the state.
McInerney’s practice consists of representing school and municipal clients, as well as labor and employment clients, in a number of areas, including litigation.
He has litigated extensively in the trial and appellate courts in the Federal and Michigan systems.
