Buiteweg elected treasurer of SBM
Lori Buiteweg, a family law attorney with Nichols, Sacks, Slank, Sendelbach and Buiteweg of Ann Arbor, has been elected treasurer of the State Bar of Michigan, and is slated to become its president in 2015.
Buiteweg previously served as chairperson of the state bar's Representative Assembly and is beginning her ninth year as district commissioner.
She is a past president and current co-chair of the Washtenaw County Bar Association's Public Service Committee and serves on the parish council of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Ann Arbor.
Buiteweg's practice focuses on mediation and Collaborative Practice, which uses an interdisciplinary team approach to help divorcing couples settle their disputes without going to court for judicial decision-making.
