Plan ahead for start of a busy year

Another active year in the Washtenaw legal community is set to begin.
The newly-created Washtenaw County Inns of Court Chapter will get underway in September with an introductory mixer.
Membership in this year's Inns chapter is now closed with teams formed. But consider joining next year.
Participants will be contacted by Inns organizers about the time and place for the mixer.
Other events on the near horizon include:
--Speakers Julia Owdziej, Linda Edwards-Brown, and Deborah Shaw will provide an updates on the re-organization of Probate Court at the WCBA Estate Planning, Probate and Trust Law Section meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 13 at Weber's Inn at noon;
--The Seventh Annual WCBA/LRC Fundraiser will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 14, at EMU's University House, 790 North Hewitt Road in Ypsilanti;
--The State Bar of Michigan Annual Meeting is being held in Dearborn this year Sept, 15, 16, and 17;
--The WCBA's Public Service Committee, chaired by Lori Buiteweg, once again will celebrate Constitution Day with in-school programs on Monday, Sept. 19. Volunteer attorneys for the event are still needed;
--The annual kick-off lunch for all WCBA section and committee chairs will be held at 200 North Main in the lower level conference room from noon to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 21;
--The Probate Court Training Update, sponsored by the WCBA's Estate Planning, Probate, and Trust Law Section, will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 27, at Cooley Law School, 3475 Plymouth Road, from 8:45 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.
--The WCBA's Annual Bias Awareness Week, will be held on Oct. 17-20;
--The 12th Annual Enhancement of Police and Community Trust (ENPACT) Public Forum will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 19, from noon to 2:30 p.m. at the Learning Resource Center (LRC) at the Hogback Road Service Center.
