Michigan attorneys will soon get many new opportunities to learn about and connect with legal services organizations in their communities and to explore volunteer possibilities.
Next month, the State Bar of Michigan’s Pro Bono Initiative will launch its first ever Michigan Pro Bono Fairs to coincide with Pro Bono Month.
“These fairs are a practical and efficient way for attorneys to learn more about legal service organizations and the programs they offer that help thousands of people in Michigan who are in urgent need of civil legal aid,” said State Bar President Julie I. Fershtman. “The need has clearly grown as funding for legal services has been dwindling. And although Michigan's legal community has been generous with its time and financial support, more help is needed.
Fershtman said she urged all attorneys across Michigan to seriously consider attending one of the fairs in their area.
