Ambulance Chase on tap at Wayne Law
Wayne State University Law School alumni, students and friends are invited to assist a local nonprofit as the Wayne Law Student Board of Governors (SBG) hosts the 26th annual Ambulance Chase Charity Run/Walk at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, September 27.
Consisting of a 2.2-mile race during which participants run or walk behind an ambulance, the event pokes fun at the stereotype of the ambulance-chasing lawyer.
All proceeds, including profits from a $15 entrance fee for students and $20 entrance fee for non-students, will benefit Cass Community Social Services (CCSS), a Detroit-based charity dedicated to helping those in need.
The event will begin in front of the Law School, located at 471 West Palmer Street in Detroit. A barbeque for participants and spectators will take place at the conclusion of the race.

Judge dismisses lawsuit in USS Cole bombing
NORFOLK, Virginia (AP) — A federal judge in the state of Virginia has dismissed a lawsuit that sought an additional $282.5 million from Sudan for the 2000 bombing of the USS Cole.
Relatives of the 17 sailors killed in the bombing in Yemen filed the lawsuit last year. They claimed Sudan’s government provided support for al-Qaida terrorists.
U.S. District Judge Robert Doumar in Norfolk ruled recently the plaintiffs can’t file a new lawsuit based on the same terrorist incident.
Fifty-nine of the 61 plaintiffs had obtained a nearly $8 million judgment against Sudan in an earlier lawsuit.
