Jackson County to receive the Phoenix Award from Chamber
The Jackson County Chamber of Commerce has announced that its Phoenix Award will be presented to Jackson County at its Annual Meeting in January.
The Phoenix Award honors an entity that has shown a strong commitment to and persistence in improving the Jackson County area.
The award selection committee, consisting of the Jackson County Chamber Executive Committee and three Ambassadors, agreed that the County's commitment to improve customer service by creating a one-stop shopping experience in a beautifully restored area was deserving of the award.
''We're extremely proud to have restored this beautiful floor to its original state and to open it up to the public so that it can be enjoyed by all,'' said County Administrator Adam Brown.
The County combined Equalization (assessing records), Register of Deeds (recording properties) and the Treasurer (payment of taxes, dog licenses, and passports) departments when it remodeled and renovated the second floor.
All three of these services have business processes that are closely related. Most customers need multiple processes. They used to have to navigate their way through three floors, now it's all in the same place.
''This project is not only about preservation and adaptive reuse,'' said County Administrator Adam Brown, ''but the most significant benefit is improved customer service.''
The Phoenix Award, along with numerous other community awards, will be presented at the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting on January 19 beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Jackson Community College Potter Center.
