from Cooley Law School
At Cooley Law School in Grand Rapids, the International Law Society recently presented guest speaker John Mottram, who talked with students about his work analyzing and reporting on the Talibanization within Pakistan and the surrounding countries.
Mottram worked for the United Kingdom police for 32 years and, in 1999, began working to increase police and criminal law reform. Recently, he has been working with the European Union on the rule of law in Pakistan. Mottram trains police and prosecutors to better their regulations and procedures when it comes to criminal activity within the country.
The lecture at Cooley included information on how to become more involved with aiding Pakistan and where students can look to use their legal careers to help promote non-hostile groups within that country. Ideas on employment included positions within the Red Cross, the United Nations, programs that help acquire food and other necessities to poverty-stricken areas, as well as teaching programs..
Mottram shared his experiences with the students and explained the difficulties that the war on terror has created for the world as a whole, not just individual nations. He resides in the United Kingdom.
Mottram is the current owner of Mottram Consultants and past Deputy Programme Coordinator at Pakistan United Kingdom.
