The Book Club of the Federal Bar Association, recently Eastern District of Michigan Chapter, conducted a discussion on “Scorpions: The Battles and Triumphs of FDR’s Great Supreme Court Justices” by Noah Feldman. The session was facilitated by Richard D. Friedman (third from left), the Alene and Allan F. Smith Professor of Law, who is an expert in constitutional law and the Supreme Court at the University of Michigan Law School.  Taking part in the Book Club session were (left to right) U.S. Bankruptcy Court Judge Walter Shapero, U.S. District Court Judge Avern Cohn, U.S. District Court Magistrate Judge Mona Majzoub, Gordon Gold of Seyburn, Kahn, Ginn, Bess, & Serlin PC; Book Club Committee Co-Chairs Andy Doctoroff of Honigman, Miller, Schwartz, & Cohn LLP, and Erica Fitzgerald of Barris, Sott, Denn, & Driker PLLC; and U.S. District Court Judge Mark Goldsmith. The book takes a look at the four justices appointed by FDR during his term as president.
