Attorney appointed to five-year term on environmental committee

The Washtenaw County Commissioners recently appointed Bodman PLC attorney James J. Carty to a five-year term on the Environmental Health Code Appeals Board/Public Health Advisory Committee. The board primarily hears variance requests to the county on site water, well, and septic regulations, but has also advised the County Commissioners on matters involving public health, including H1N1, proposed state and local regulations, health survey results, and budget issues. Carty is an associate attorney in Bodman's Ann Arbor office and a member of the firm's Litigation & Alternative Dispute Resolution Practice Group. He represents clients involved in complex commercial litigation matters. Carty is a 2010 magna cum laude graduate of the University of Toledo College of Law, where he was an associate member and articles editor of the University of Toledo Law Review and a member of the Constitutional Law Team for the University of Toledo Moot Court. He served as a judicial intern to the Honorable George Caram Steeh, III of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. Bodman is one of Michigan's largest business law firms with 145 lawyers in four Michigan offices in Detroit, Troy, Ann Arbor, and Cheboygan, and an affiliate office in Dallas, Texas.
