The Grand Rapids office of Warner Norcross & Judd LLP will once again host a fundraising event to benefit the Kids’ Food Basket of Grand Rapids.
The week-long fundraising event, themed “We Y Kids,” will take place Feb. 13-17. Attorneys and staff will take part in a friendly competition between the six floors of the downtown law firm to collect juice boxes as well as cash donations that will be used to purchase additional juice boxes. The goal is to raise enough juice boxes to help Kids’ Food Basket remove one school from its waiting list.
Attorneys and staff will also participate in decorating the paper bags that the Kids’ Food Basket will later fill with nutritionally balanced sack suppers for the kids. The firm is hoping to decorate 1,000 bags during the week.
This past summer, Warner Norcross held a similar fundraiser and raised nearly $7,500 in a single week to support Kids’ Food Basket – nearly triple the original goal set for the law firm’s Community Service Project.
Kids’ Food Basket delivers more than 4,600 sack suppers to elementary school children in 35 schools in Grand Rapids on a daily basis in the organization’s effort to attack hunger. In one month, the organization distributes 80,000 juice boxes to kids. President Barack Obama recognized KFB founder Mary Jane Hoodhood with a Citizens’ Medal of Honor in August of 2010.
