Monday Profile- Greg Dodd
Greg Dodd is an Associate Attorney with The Law Office of Gregory L. Dodd, working on making partner. He is in general practice but concentrates on bankruptcy and debt collection. He graduated from Eastern Michigan University in 1986 where he majored in History. He earned his law degree from Wayne State University Law School in 1989. Dodd is the Secretary of the Washtenaw County Bar Association and he usually has something to do with the Bar Revue Show.
Residence:
In the City of Ann Arbor, MI near Arborland.
What is your idea of perfect happiness?
A Bar Revue Show that's finally funny.
What is your greatest fear?
If the Bar Revue is funny, they'll ask me to do it again.
Who is your favorite entertainer?
Jack Benny. Largely forgotten now, but from the 1930's through the 1960's his radio and TV shows made him bigger than Seinfeld was in the 1990's. Jack Benny set the standard for sitcoms which no one has equaled since.
What is the trait you hate most in yourself?
That I have to sleep.
What is the trait you hate most in others?
Tardiness. It's a sign of disorganization.
Necessary extravagance?
Drinking at coffee shops like Biggby Coffee.
When and where were you happiest?
When I was a teenager living on a boat on the Great Lakes.
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
I would slow down. But I can't do that. Maybe next month. But I've got a trial next month. Maybe the month after that.
Most dangerous accomplishment:
I put on Napoleon's hat at the Invalides Museum in Paris, and walked around the empty museum with it on, saluting his mannequin-soldiers. If there was video surveillance there, I am a wanted man in France. I swear the glass case was already open!
What do you like best about your job?
Getting people out of debt with bankruptcy. Divorces tend to go on forever until the kids grow up, criminal defendants often re-offend, but people who file bankruptcy get a fresh start and they usually use it well. The field is leveled with the credit card companies; it is true justice.
Favorite movie:
North by Northwest, directed by Alfred Hitchcock.
Favorite drink:
Iced tea (summer). Teddy Bear at Biggby Coffee (winter).
Favorite place to spend money:
Anywhere on-line so I don't have to go to the store.
What is your motto?
Don't put off until tomorrow what you can do today.
Where would you like to be when you're 90?
Cruising the world on my own boat with a crew doing the work.
