After six years, Jackson attorney Mick Falahee will have his name added to the law firm White & Hotchkiss.
The firm is now named White, Hotchkiss & Falahee, PLLC.
"Not much has really changed other than the name. We plan to provide the same great legal service to our clients," said Falahee, 31, who graduated from Lumen Christi High School. "It is a reward after putting in six years of hard work here. The exposure was the biggest thing. Getting my name out there a little more is always beneficial."
White, Hotchkiss & Falahee is a general practice firm that concentrates on work with landlords, collections, family law, municipal law, estate planning, criminal defense and personal injury.
Falahee, a Jackson native, attended the Western Michigan University Haworth College of Business and the West Virginia University College of Law. He spent summers clerking in the Jackson County Prosecutor's office and clerked at the Stillman Law Office in West Bloomfield during his year at WSU.
He came back to Jackson in 2005 and was an assistant prosecuting attorney for Jackson County.
In February of 2006, he started with White & Hotchkiss.
Falahee is a member of the American Bar Association, Michigan Bar Association, and Jackson County Bar Association. He's also volunteered with Jackson County Habitat for Humanity, and is a board member of the Jackson Exchange Club.
He and his wife Jessica have a 6-month-old son, Ethan. They just bought a house in Summit Township.
Falahee's grandfather, Charles, was a Jackson County probate judge and circuit judge, and his father, Charles J. Falahee Jr., was a Jackson County district judge.
"That may have led me down that path," Falahee said. "Neither of them pressured me. It was just something I wanted to do. Working with Eric (White) and Ken (Hotchkiss) has been a great experience over the last six years."
Attorney Eric White said he and Hotchkiss had been talking about adding Falahee's name to the firm for months.
"Mick's been a valuable member of the firm since he's been here," White said. "This is something that is well earned. I think it gives some permanence and recognizes his accomplishments since he's been with us. We look at it as a commitment to him and the contributions that he makes to the firm."
