Anthony J. Kolenic Jr., a partner with Warner Norcross & Judd LLP, has been honored with Muskegon Community College’s Distinguished Alumni Award.
Kolenic will be recognized at the Distinguished Alumni Award dinner on April 19. The Distinguished Alumni Award is given annually and is the highest honor that MCC bestows upon its alumni. Kolenic is receiving the award based on his outstanding achievements both in his personal and professional life and for his commitment to community service. In addition to the award, Kolenic will speak to graduating students during the commencement ceremony on April 21.
Kolenic has practiced law in West Michigan for more than 30 years, the past 17 as a partner at Warner Norcross. He represents private sector, tax-exempt and governmental employers in all facets of employee benefits and executive compensation law. He currently serves as chair of the Employee Benefits Practice Group and practices in both Muskegon and Grand Rapids.
He has been recognized by Michigan Super Lawyers since 2006 and by Best Lawyers in America since 1995. He was rated a leader in the field of employee benefits and executive compensation law in Michigan by Chambers USA 2009-2011. He is a member of the American Bar Association and the State Bar of Michigan, as well as a fellow of the Michigan State Bar Foundation.
He has been an active member of his community, serving as the past president and the lieutenant governor of the Kiwanis Division 15, past president and board member for the Muskegon County Catholic Education Foundation and past president of the Muskegon County Museum. He was also a recipient of the Muskegon Jaycee’s Distinguished Service Award.
A native of Muskegon, Kolenic graduated from MCC in 1973 with an associate’s degree. He also holds a bachelor’s degree with high honors from Michigan State University and a doctor of jurisprudence magna cum laude from the University of Michigan Law School.
