YLS summit scheduled

The Young Lawyers Section of the State Bar of Michigan will host its 5th Annual Summit on June 15-16 at the Westin Book-Cadillac Hotel in Detroit.

SBM President Julie Fershtman will serve as keynote speaker of the event, the focus of which has been providing networking and educational opportunities to young lawyers. 

Highlights of the summit will include speed networking, a luncheon, cocktail reception and presentation of the Regeana Myrick Outstanding Young Lawyer Award during the Saturday dinner event.

In addition, a panel of judges will discuss “Divergent Paths to the Bench” and a session on public speaking will be conducted by Dale Carnegie.

Other presentations are scheduled on the following topics: tips for solos and aspiring partners; ways to tackle student loans; alternative careers for young lawyers; negotiating the work/life balance and avoiding burnout; and starting a practice on a limited budget.

After June 1, the registration fee increases from $40 to $55 for section members and from $25 to $40 for member guests.

A block of rooms has been reserved at the Westin Book Cadillac Hotel at a special rate of $129/night for attendees.
