Probation officers Jennifer Huettner, Michael McGlown, and Carol Dantes of 52-1 District Court in Novi get ready to take off on their Harleys from the 15th District Sobriety Court in Ann Arbor to the 43rd Circuit Family Dependency Court in Cassopolis. The three took part in the Michigan Association of Drug Court Professionals’ Cross-State Relay for Recovery, which stopped in Ann Arbor May 29 as part of a six-city, 12-day relay in honor of men and women who have overcome addictions. At each stop, the MADCP flag was passed to a new group of motorcyclists during a ceremony at the sobriety court. Representing the 15th District Sobriety Court, Judge Joe Burke welcomed a small crowd outside the Ann Arbor Justice Center May 29. Burke said the legislative, executive and judicial branches of government support the state’s 96 drug and sobriety courts, which are a a win-win for all because they involve both consequences and treatment.
