Jackson awards honor citizens 60 and older
The Jackson County Department on Aging and the Jackson County Fair are joining together to honor outstanding contributions made by Jackson County citizens 60 and older.
Awards are given in two categories: Leadership in the Community and Service Provided to Others.
Selection will be made on leadership and service rendered in the past five years. Emphasis should be placed on a nominee's activities at age 60 and older. Nominations can be submitted by an individual or organization.
Nomination forms submitted in the leadership and service categories should address the items listed in the respective nomination forms. Contact the Department on Aging for nomination forms at (517) 788-4364 or go to their website at http://www. co.jackson.mi.us.
Submit nomination form and any newspaper clippings, or letter of support, etc. to: Jackson County Department on Aging, Senior Volunteer of the Year Nomination, 1715 Lansing Ave., Suite 672, Jackson, MI 49202. They can also be e-mailed to Brietta Allen at ballen@co.jackson.mi.us.
Nominations must be received by Monday, June 25.
Winners will be invited to attend the award ceremony on Senior Day at the Jackson County Fair. The Jackson County Senior Volunteer of the Year nomination is separate from the state level competition, but nominee qualities we seek are the same.
