Dykema named top-tier real estate law firm in Midwest
Dykema Gossett PLLC announces that it has been named one of the top three real estate law firms in the Midwest, and the number-one law firm based in Michigan, by Midwest Real Estate News. This year's award, revealed in the publication’s “Best of the Best 2012” special issue, marks the fourth consecutive year that Dykema’s Real Estate practice has earned a top three ranking.
As reported in Midwest Real Estate News, Dykema closed more than 1350 transactions during 2011 in all areas of real estate, including lending, leasing, acquisitions and dispositions. No Michigan-based law firm reported a higher volume of successful matters. More than 20 percent of the matters involved at least $5 million, and nearly 10 percent had a value greater than $15 million.
“Our deep team of exceptional lawyers has allowed us to enjoy continued success in what remains a challenging business environment. To have helped so many clients navigate through this difficult environment is very satisfying to all of us,” said Kyle R. Hauberg, Director of Dykema’s Real Estate and Environmental Department.
Midwest Real Estate News’ “Best of the Best” issue is the definitive ranking of businesses within the real estate industry. The annual report canvasses key Midwest firms within the real estate industry. This year, the publication received responses from a strong field of 65 law firms. The issue also ranks other practitioner categories within the real estate sector, including owners, financial intermediaries, brokers, construction companies and property management organizations.
BIFMA signs on for LEED rating system
The Business and Insttutional Furniture Manufacturers Association (BIFMA) joined the U.S. Green Building Council today as a signatory on a letter to the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) encouraging inclusion of the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Rating Systems as an option for public building design and assessment.
LEED has been hugely successful in advancing sustainable principles and transforming the market using a voluntary, multi-attribute credit approach. The inherent flexibility of the multiple-credit, point-based structure that helps to make it so effective.
BIFMA strongly supports open, consensus standards development, which LEED does utilize. To disregard LEED entirely due to criticism of single issues would sacrifice the benefits gained. BIFMA invites its members to adopt a similar position.
