Shelter to hold birthday party for shelter and rescued dogs

While often times the ages of rescued dogs are identifiable, their true birthdates are usually unknown. Many pet parents are known to select a random date to celebrate their adopted dog's birthday, such as a significant occasion, a family member's birthday, a special holiday that reflects the dog's personality, or in many cases, the date on which they adopted the animal.
To give these animals their much deserved recognition, the Cascades Humane Society will be hosting a birthday party for all shelter and rescued dogs on Saturday, August 18 from 1 to 2 p.m. at Cascades Humane Society, 1515 Carmen Drive in Jackson.
"These wonderful animals, many still waiting patiently in shelters for their adopters, are so full of life and love, and live to please us,'' said CHS Executive Director Debra Carmody. ''These sweet animals crave our affection and company, so we can imagine the warm feelings they will experience from all the extra attention on their special day.'' Donations of dog toys and treats for the dogs at the humane society are encouraged.
The celebration will include birthday treats, ''PUPcakes'' for the dogs and birthday cake for their families. The birthday dogs can also take part in games such as Find the Dog Biscuit and the Fastest Peanut Butter Eating Contest.
