Detroit Regional Chamber picks LAD VP for leadership program
Roger Lennert, marketing and development vice president for Legal Aid and Defender Association, Inc. (LAD), has been selected to participate in the Detroit Regional Chamber’s Leadership Detroit program designed to challenge emerging and existing community leaders from Southeast Michigan to bring about positive change.
“Roger is a leader in our organization and the community, and we are excited about his selection for Leadership Detroit,” said Deierdre L. Weir, LAD president and CEO.
Lennert’s responsibilities at LAD include fundraising, media relations and community outreach, as well as website and social media development.
Lennert’s career has included positions as executive director, Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association and its foundation; executive director, Alliance for a Safer, Greater Detroit, Inc.; and communications manager, Southeast Michigan Council of Governments. He is also an adjunct instructor at Baker College.
Leadership Detroit is a 10-month community leadership program for executives in Southeast Michigan led by the Detroit Regional Chamber with more than1,800 alumni. Launched in 1979, the program aims to create awareness of key issues that affect the Detroit region and to challenge emerging and existing community leaders to bring about positive change in the community through informed leadership.
Lennert will join 69 executives from across the region, representing a cross-section of the community, including business, organized labor, government, education, media, civic groups, health services and community organizations.
“Leadership Detroit has a strong legacy of bringing together executives from around the region who are committed to making a difference. This year’s class is poised to drive the dialogue and build the relationships that will move our region forward,” said Sandy K. Baruah, president and CEO of the Detroit Regional Chamber.
Holiday Hours
The Wayne County Clerk’s Office will be closed on Monday, Oct. 8 in observance of Columbus Day.
The Third Circuit Court Civil, Criminal and Family Divisions will be closed Oct. 8 in observance of Columbus Day.
The Wayne County Probate Court will be closed in observance of Columbus Day on Monday, Oct. 8 and will reopen on Tuesday, Oct. 9 at 8 a.m.
In observance of Columbus Day, the 36th District Court will be closed to the public on Monday, Oct. 8. Only criminal arraignments will be conducted.
