Attorneys named 2012 Super Lawyers
Four attorneys in the family law firm of Nichols, Sacks, Slank, Sendelbach & Buiteweg (NSSSB) have been recognized as Michigan Super Lawyers for 2012, a distinction granted through peer ratings to only 5 percent of attorneys statewide.
All four honorees--Margo Nichols, Monika Sacks, Karen Sendelbach and Lori Buiteweg --practice in the firm's Ann Arbor office and have been recognized as Super Lawyers for multiple years.
Margo Nichols, a Super Lawyer since 2006, is skilled in litigation as well as collaborative approaches to complex domestic issues. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and past chair of the Washtenaw County Bar Association.
Monika Sacks has earned the Super Lawyer distinction for seven consecutive years. Her family law practice is resolution-oriented, and she has long advocated for the wider use of alternative dispute resolution methods such as mediation and collaborative practice. A charter member and president of Collaborative Practice Institute of Michigan, Sacks is also a certified elder mediator.
Karen Sendelbach represents clients in divorce, custody, support, and property settlement cases at all levels of the judicial system, and represents children as a guardian ad litem. A frequent lecturer on family law issues, Sendelbach has served as chair of the Family Law Council of the State Bar of Michigan. She has earned the Super Lawyer distinction since 2010.
Lori Buiteweg, a Super Lawyer since 2010, focuses her practice on parenting time and legal custody. She also has expertise in separation and divorce, prenuptial agreements, and estate planning.
