Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Edward Sosnick (third from left) was honored as the 2012 winner of the Champion for Justice Award on Friday, Oct. 12, at a luncheon hosted by the Family Law Assistance Project (FLAP) and Common Ground Legal Services at the Auburn Hills campus of Cooley Law School. Sosnick was selected for this year’s award for his compassion and efforts in advocating for pro-bono representation and expanded family law services to low income residents in Oakland County. Congratulating Sosnick on the honor were (l-r) FLAP Director Ashley Lowe, Oakland County Probate Court Judge Elizabeth Pezzetti, Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Joan Young, Common Ground Vice President of External Relations Jim Perlaki, and Lakeshore Legal Aid Executive Director Bill Knight. Family Law Assistance Project (FLAP) is a collaboration of Lakeshore Legal Aid and Cooley Law School providing legal assistance in family law matters including divorce, custody, parenting time, paternity, child support, guardianship, and domestic personal protection orders. Common Ground provides a lifeline for individuals and families in crisis, victims of crime, persons with mental illness, people trying to cope with critical situations, and runaway and homeless youths.
