In Memoriam Patrick D. Murphy 1949-2012
Patrick D. Murphy of Strain Murphy & VanderWal, P.C., passed away Nov. 4. He is survived by his wife Jacqueline M. Murphy, daughter Amber Davis, brothers Dr. Miles Murphy and Msgr. Francis J. Murphy, sisters Kathleen Johnston and Sr. Carmelita Murphy O.P., and many other relatives and friends.
Murphy received his B.A. from Marquette University and his J.D. from Wayne State University Law School. In addition to his litigation practice, he served on many boards and committees for legal, church, school, fraternal and charitable organizations; he was a valued member of the Grand Rapids Bar Association and a Life Member of the Justice Foundation of West Michigan.
Funeral services will be held at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 2510 Richmond NW, Grand Rapids, on Nov. 8 at 11 a.m.
Dickinson’s Schuring named Up and Coming Lawyer for 2012
Dickinson Wright PLLC announces that John T. Schuring has been selected as a “2012 Up & Coming Lawyer” by Michigan Lawyers Weekly for dedication to his practice, firm and community.
Schuring is an Associate in the firm’s Grand Rapids office. He focuses his practice in the areas of banking and financial services, corporate, energy and sustainability, mergers and acquisitions, and real estate. He counsels businesses and individuals with respect to general business, corporate planning, and real estate. He has experience in implementing and executing mergers, acquisitions and divestitures of corporate assets as well as negotiating, drafting and reviewing contracts of all types.
Schuring is is Co-Chair of the Residential Transactions Committee, State Bar Real Property Law Section. He sits on the Board of the Fulton Heights Neighborhood Association and the Michigan Branch of the International Dyslexia Association. He received his B.B.A. from the University of Notre Dame and his J.D. from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law.
The 2012 Up & Coming Lawyers will be honored at an annual luncheon and awards celebration on Dec. 6 in Troy.
