Gov. Rick Snyder announced the appointments Friday of Martha Snow of Northville to Wayne County Circuit Court and Dean Ausilio of Warren to 37th District Court in Macomb County.
“Martha Snow and Dean Ausilio are experienced attorneys with decades of service and involvement in their communities. I am confident both will be outstanding additions to the bench as judges for residents in southeast Michigan,” Snyder said.
Snow fills the vacancy created by the resignation of Judge Gershwin Drain.
She is a shareholder of the Xuereb Snow law firm and has more than 20 years of experience as a civil trial lawyer, primarily practicing family law.
Snow previously was a special assistant attorney general, shareholder of the Martha M. Snow law firm, and an associate attorney at Pepper and Associates.
She was admitted to the state bar in 1991, and has a law degree from Wayne State University Law School and a bachelor’s degree from Central Michigan University.
Ausilio fills the vacancy created by the resignation of Judge Dawnn M. Gruenburg. He is a partner of the Law Offices of Ausilio and Ausilio, where he has practiced family law and other civil and criminal law matters for more than 20 years.
Ausilio previously served as special assistant attorney general, deputy treasurer for the city of Warren and was an associate attorney at the Bailey and Tull law firm.
He has law and bachelor’s degrees from Wayne State University.
Gruenburg left the court earlier this year to serve as an administrative law judge in the U.S. Social Security Administration.
She had served on the bench since her appointment in April 1990 by then-Gov. James Blanchard.
Snow and Ausilio must both seek election in November 2014 to serve the remainder of the terms expiring Jan. 1, 2017.
