Monday Profile: R.J. Cronkhite
R.J. Cronkhite grew up in New Boston, and graduated magna cum laude from Eastern Michigan University in 2007 with a degree in history. He graduated from the University of Chicago Law School in 2011, after interning with the Chief Justice of the New Mexico Supreme Court, Charles W. Daniels. Following law school, Cronkhite returned to his home state and joined Tishkoff & Associates PLLC in Ann Arbor, where he focuses his practice primarily on commercial litigation and business disputes.
Residence: West side of Ann Arbor.
What is your idea of perfect happiness?
Health, wealth, & wisdom.
What is the trait you hate most in yourself? Impatience.
What is the trait you hate most in others? Hate.
If you suddenly had an extra room in your house, what would you do with it? I'd build a panic room, though a black chamber is a close second!
What was your most memorable meal? Dinner with my best friend at Charlie Trotter's in Chicago after completing my first year of law school.
What is your most treasured material possession? My road bike.

Would you rather save money or time?
I'd rather spend money to save time.

What do you consider the most overrated virtue? Frugality.
What's your greatest achievement?
Surviving Roman Law with Professor Richard Epstein.
What would you say to your 16-year-old self? This, too, shall pass.
What's the oddest thing you ever bought? A ticket to Gigli.
What one thing do you wish people knew about your work?
The importance of improvisation and bricolage.
Favorite joke: Q: What's the difference between a bad litigator and a good litigator? A: A bad litigator drags your case on for years. A good litigator delays it even longer.
What one habit do you wish you could break?
Perfectionism and the time it costs.
What is something most people don't know about you?
I studied German abroad in Graz, Austria.
If you could have dinner with three people, living or dead, who would they be? Hannibal, Sun Yat-Sen, & Voltaire.
Who is your favorite character of fiction? Ellen Ripley from Alien.
