A framed copy of a recent story chronicling the life and times of U.S. Court of Appeals Judge Damon J. Keith was presented to the federal jurist recently during a brief ceremony at Wayne State University Law School. Peter Hammer (left), a Wayne Law professor and director of the Damon J. Keith Center for Civil Rights at WSU Law School, made the presentation to Keith. Also on hand for the presentation was Tom Kirvan, editor in chief of The Detroit Legal News, who wrote the story that highlighted many of Keith’s landmark cases and legal triumphs. At Keith’s request, the framed copy of the story is now displayed at the Keith Center, a 10,000-square-foot building that opened in the fall of 2011 and is dedicated to the advancement of civil rights.
