Cooley volunteers to help residents prepare taxes

Volunteers from the Ann Arbor campus of Cooley Law School will once again participate in a free income tax preparation program for taxpayers earning less than $57,000 per year. The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is targeted to veterans, low- to moderate-income taxpayers, and the elderly who are not able to pay for tax preparation services. VITA sessions are free, but appointments are required and can be made by calling (734) 780-1891. Sessions will be offered from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on all Wednesdays in February, as well as March 27, and April 3 and 10, at the downtown Ann Arbor library, 343 S. Fifth Ave.; and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays, Feb, 23, March 30 and April 13 at the downtown Ann Arbor library; Feb 9 and April 6 at the Manchester Community Resource Center, 410 City Road, Manchester; and Feb. 16 at Carrot Way Community Center, 31 Carrot Way, Ann Arbor.
