The Third Circuit Court Civil and Family Divisions will be closed today in observance of President’s Day.
In observance of President’s Day, the 36th District Court will be closed to the public today. Only criminal arraignments will be conducted.
The following divisions of the Wayne County Clerk’s Office will be closed today due to a mandatory furlough: Civil Division - Court Services and Elections Division at the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center; Criminal Division-Court Services at the Frank Murphy Hall of Justice; and Juvenile Division-Court Services at Lincoln Hall of Justice.

Warren law firm plans two free legal aid clinics in Southfield
The Law Offices of Hakim, Daman, & Toma, P.C. plan to provide free legal assistance and consultation to the public in two special legal aid clinics in the months of February and March as follows:
• Feb. 17 from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at St. George Chaldean Catholic Church in Shelby Township (45700 Dequindre Road, 48317).
• March 17, 2013, from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Mother of God Chaldean Catholic Church in Southfield (25585 Berg Road, 48033).

WSU Law program to look at the future of the voting Rights Act
The Michigan Chapter and Wayne State University Law School Student Chapter of the American Constitution Society present: “A Look at Shelby County: The Future of the Voting Rights Act.”
The program will be on Monday, Feb. 25, at noon at Wayne State University Law School, 471 West Palmer Street, Detroit in the Spencer M. Partrich Auditorium.
Is Section 5 still needed? What constitutional questions are in play in this case? What are the potential implications for congressional action aimed at combating discrimination in other contexts?
This event will explore these and other questions. Participants include Marcia Johnson-Blanco, Co-Director, Voting Rights Project, Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under the Law; Ellen D. Katz, Professor of Law, The University of Michigan Law School; and will be moderated by Jocelyn F. Benson, Interim Dean, Wayne State University Law School. Lunch will be provided.
