The friends and family of Judge Kaye Tertzag will host the Fourth Annual Tertzag Tribute Dinner later this month.
Tertzag died in 2009 and, to preserve and honor his memory, the Fourth Annual Tertzag Tribute Dinner will be held at the Park Place Banquet Hall in Dearborn on Thursday, Feb. 28.
The Tertzag Tribute Dinner Committee has announced that the 2013 recipient of the Purple Sport Coat Award is newly elected Michigan Supreme Court Justice Bridget Mary McCormack.
Last year’s recipient, Wayne County Circuit Court Judge David J. Allen, will present the award.
A former Yale professor, McCormack served as clinical director for the University of Michigan Law School’s Innocence Project before her election to the Michigan Supreme Court this November.
McCormack exemplifies Judge Tertzag’s motto: Be Prompt. Be Prepared. Be Polite.
The keynote speaker will be Michigan Supreme Court Justice Brian Zahra.
Tertzag and Zahra once served together on the Wayne County Circuit Court. Zahra served four years on the Wayne County Circuit Court and 12 years on the state Court of Appeals before Gov. Rick Snyder appointed him to the Michigan Supreme Court in 2011.
Tickets for the event, scheduled from 5:30-9:30 p.m., are $40 and include dinner and an open bar.
Checks should be made payable to: Tertzag Tribute Dinner LLC and sent to 997 Henrietta, Birmingham, MI 48009.
