Legal writing competition open to law students
The Intellectual Property Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan and the Thomas M. Cooley Law School Graduate Program in Intellectual Property Law are co-sponsoring the third annual Michigan Innovation and IP Legal Writing Competition.
The competition is open to students enrolled in J.D. degree programs at any ABA-accredited Michigan law school between Jan. 1, 2012 and May 1, 2013.
Individuals wishing to participate in the competition must submit their work electronically no later than May 15, 2013. Three cash prizes range from $200 to $500. In addition, each winner will have their work published in the IPLS Proceedings journal and receive their choice of complimentary registration for an IPLS intellectual property seminar or symposium.
"The Intellectual Property Law Section sponsors the writing competition to encourage law students throughout the state to engage in legal scholarship in intellectual property and related areas of the law," said Anna Budde, IPLS Council Chair and a patent attorney at Quinn Law Group, PLLC. ''This area presents a variety of topics of interest to law students, including patent, trademark, and copyright law, social media, emerging technologies, and privacy. The IPLS hopes that the competition will inspire our future IP lawyers to explore these important issues in greater depth.''
